Mountain Explorers FAQKids Camp Release Form
What are the ages for Mountain Explorers?

Skiing - ages 6 years old – 12 years old
Snowboarding - ages 7 years old – 12 years old

Can my children be together?

Yes, if they are of the same discipline and ability.

Can my children be with their friends?

Yes, if they are the same discipline and ability.  Please let the instructor know at sign-in.

My children have their own equipment.  Do they get a discount?

No.  The lift ticket, lesson, and rentals are an all-inclusive package.  A lesson only price is available if you have a season’s pass or have purchased a multi-day lift ticket and will only be in Kid’s Camp one day.

Can I make a reservation for Mountain Explorers?

Yes!  You may request a call back for information here, visit us at our On-Line Store and purchase for any day of the season, or call us at 435-677-2036 extension 317 within the 60-hour advance window.  The 60-hour window is necessary for processing time, if a guest attempts to purchase with less than a 60-hour notice, it is an invalid reservation.  The credit card information used to make the reservation will be charged the fee for Kid’s Camp the two days before participation to expedite your registration the day of participation.

What is the cancellation policy for reservations?

There is a 60-hour cancellation policy.  Please contact us via telephone (435-677-2036 extension 317) or e-mail (skischoolreservations@brianhead.com).  If you do leave a message, please leave the date and time you called, as well as the date(s) and child’s (or children’s) reservations you are canceling.  We will return your call or e-mail to confirm the cancellation.

What is the cancellation fee?

If you do not cancel within the 60-hour window, we do charge the full $95 Kid’s Camp fee.

What time do I need to be there?

We recommend that you arrive at 9:00 AM Mountain Time, during the holidays the Navajo Lodge Learning Center will open at 8:30 AM.  All reservations will be released at 10:00 AM Mountain Time on the day of camp.  Children must be signed-in and with their class by 10:00 AM Mountain time.

What do I do when I have purchased at the On-Line Store or made a reservation?

When arriving at the Navajo Lodge, please proceed directly to the Will Call desk just outside of Kid’s Camp.  Please make sure to bring a copy or your On-Line Store receipt and confirmation letter, as well as have the Kid’s Camp Registration Form and the Rental Form completed for your children.  While at Will Call, you will pick-up the lift tickets for your children and proceed to the sign-in desk under the Will Work for Snow sign.  If you need additional lift tickets, rentals, or lessons you may purchase those at Will Call.

Mid-week, the Will Call desk will be inside Kid’s Camp.

Can I pre-register for Kid’s Camp?

Yes.  You can pre-register for Kid’s Camp the day before from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.  By pre-registering you will avoid any lines the next day.

What forms will I need to register for the Mountain Explorers program?

You will need to complete the Kid’s Camp Release Form and the Rental Form.  Please save yourself some time and complete it before you arrive.  You may download them from the links above.

Does Kid’s Camp include lunch?

Yes, the registration fee includes lunch.  We provide kid friendly food, but please let us know if your child has any food allergies, aversions, or special requests (i.e. vegetarian or kosher).  Lunch is served in Kid’s Camp.

Can I eat lunch with my child?

No, not in Kid’s Camp.  You may check on your child or sign them out for lunch, but please be sure to sign them back in by 1:15 p.m.!

When do half-day lessons begin?

Half-day lessons begin registration at 12:00 PM (noon).  Lessons start at 1:15 p.m. and do include lunch.  Half-day lessons are based on availability.

You may purchase an all-day lesson package and sign your child out after lunch (that way you have an all day lift ticket and rentals).

If my child can ski, does that mean he/she will be good at snowboarding?

Not necessarily.  Snowboarding is a more difficult sport to learn than skiing.  The balance (stance) and muscle coordination is completely different than skiing.

How will my child be placed in a class?

Our instructors will ask a series of questions for pre-placement then the child will be evaluated on the mountain and placed in the appropriate class.

How will I be contacted if my child becomes ill or injured?

If you are skiing or snowboarding on the mountain, please check the whiteboards at the base (bottom) of each lift.  We will place a chalkboard message asking you to contact or return to Kid’s Camp.  We will also attempt to contact you via the telephone number listed on the release form.

Can my child change disciplines (i.e. snowboard to ski)?

No.  You may switch to another discipline the next day, but not during the same day.

Can I attend or watch my child’s class?

Children will pay more attention to their parents than the instructor, so we encourage you to enjoy your time on the mountain.

Do we receive a discount if we purchase multiple days in Kid’s Camp?

Yes, but please be aware that a multi-day purchase is non-refundable.

Where does my child store his/her shoes?

Kid’s Camp does not provide a place for children ages 6 – 12 to hold items.

Is there a lost and found?

Yes.  Please see the Kid’s Camp Agent and describe the lost item.  We recommend labeling your child’s personal items such as gloves, coats, and goggles.

When do I pick-up my child?

Lessons end at 3:30 p.m.  Please be prompt in picking up your child.  If they are still in our care after 3:45 p.m., you will be charged for daycare services.  You may sign a release stating the children are free to move about the mountain on their own after 3:30 p.m.  They may not “hang out” in Kid’s Camp.

How long are the lessons in Mountain Explorers?

Your child will receive a 2-hour lesson in the morning and again in the afternoon.

Is there a discount for multiple children?

Yes.  You may purchase a Kid’s Camp Mini-Pass.  You receive 10 vouchers for Kid’s Camp, which can be used for a child (or children) anytime throughout the season.

What is the cost of the Kid’s Camp Mini-Pass?

The cost is $830 for the 10 passes.  You save $12 per pass.

What are the student/instructor ratios?

Kid’s Camp 6 – 12 years old - 12:1
Please note that these are general guidelines.

Where is Kid’s Camp located?

Kid’s Camp is in the Navajo Lodge Learning Center at Brian Head.  We are located “upstairs” with the cafeteria and retail shop.

Can I rent snow apparel (coats, pants, or goggles)?

Not at Brian Head Resort.  You may purchase it at High Mountain Outfitters.
Georg’s and Brian Head Sports do have snow apparel available for rent.

Recommendations:

Layered Clothing
One pair of socks (nylon on warm days, “ski” on cold)
Sunglasses or Goggles (always one or the other)
Sunblock
Chapstick

Will my child still be able to take his/her medication?

Yes, on the release form it asks for any medications and dosages.  Our staff will be aware of the child’s needs, although we can not administer the medication; parents are welcome to come and attend to your child’s medication needs as warranted.

If your child is asthmatic, even if it is allergy related, please bring their inhaler and/or medication.  The difference in elevation and exertion of energy may trigger an asthma attack.  Make sure that your child has their inhaler in their pocket and knows how to use it.

How do I reach Kid’s Camp if I have additional questions?
You may request a call back for information here, e-mail us at skischoolreservations@brianhead.com ,or call us at 435-677-2036, extension 317.  Please allow 1-2 days for a response
