Ski With Ranger Program

March 11 @ 10:00 am 2:00 pm

The purpose of the Ski with a Ranger Program is to educate resort visitors about the natural and cultural history of the Brian Head Basin and the Forest service mission to provide recreation opportunities as part of its multiple-use mandate. It is anticipated that there will be five stops as we ski/ride from the top to the bottom of chair 2. Highlighted topics along the way will be history, geography, geology, flora and fauna, beetle infestation and subsequent reforestation, habitat improvement, fire and fuels management, responsible recreation and the Forest Services role in all of this.  The program is free once on the mountain and is intended for intermediate level skiers and snowboarders.

The group will meet at the bottom of chair 2, Giant Steps where we will have a brief introduction, and discuss skiing ability requirements, special needs of the groups, logistics, and safety. We will also go over the tour agenda, staying together as a group, and safe areas for stopping to discuss features of interest.  In addition, there will be a Forest Service vendor booth at the base of Giant Steps on the designated days.
