Ski & Snowboard Lessons for Kids – Mountain Explorers

Mountain Explorers (Ages 7-12)

Mountain Explorers helps skiers and snowboarders of all abilities progress as they explore all the fun Brian Head Resort has to offer. There are four different levels available that will help kids progress at the appropriate rate. Children must be willing, ready, and potty trained at Check-In.Let your kids bring home life-long memories, in safe and fun environment! Watch their technique improve as they want to come back year after year! Please note – advanced snowboard lessons are only available in a private lesson.

Due to the popularity of our Winter Sports School, reservations are highly recommended and are required during Peak Pricing Periods.

All Winter Sports School prices listed below are with a minimum of 5 days advance reservations. Add 15% with less than 5 days advance reservations, and 30% with less than 24 hours or no advance reservations.

Ability Levels

  • 1st time skiing/snowboarding
  • Been skiing/snowboarding before, but not ready to load the chairlift
  • Needs to work on stopping consistently
  • Needs a 1st time lesson refresher
  • Green runs remain a bit of a challenge
  • Prefers a slower pace
  • Able to put ski/snowboard on/off with little or no help
  • Can load and unload the chair-lift safely
  • Can stand up alone after a fall
  • Knows how to stop on demand and may know how to do minor direction changes
  • Has been skiing/snowboarding for 1-3 days or hasn’t been in a long time
  • Feel very confident and know how to comfortably control speed and link turns on green runs
  • Able to take skis or snowboard on and off
  • Can stand up alone after a fall
  • Can load and unload the chair-lift safely
  • Blue runs can be challenging
  • Feel very confident and know how to comfortably control speed and link turns on blue runs
  • Advanced lessons are going to challenge your kids on blue terrain and will stay on groomed terrain at Navajo and may go to Giant Steps
  • Lessons start at Navajo. Lesson may move over to Giant Steps during the lesson
  • Offered for ski lessons only

Start Times & Important Information

Morning & Full Day Lesson Start Times:
10:00 a.m. MST

Afternoon Lesson Start Times:
1:30 p.m. MST

Please arrive as soon as the lodge opens for Morning and Full Day lessons to ensure time to be outfitted and to meet your instructor. Afternoon Lessons should arrive 30 – 45 minutes prior to the lesson start time.

Lodge Opening Times: Monday – Friday 9:15 AM MST, Weekends and Peak Periods 8:45 AM MST. 

Guests should be ready with their equipment, be willing to go, and checked-in at the Winter Sports School Podium no later than the lesson start time.

Reservations Required

Within 48 hours of the ticket or lesson purchase, you are eligible for a 100% refund paid to the payment device used to purchase your lift ticket, rental, tubing, or lesson. Tickets, rentals, tubing, and lessons are not refundable or transferable on the date valid. After you make your purchase, up to 11:59 pm on the day before your arrival date, you may defer your ticket, rental or lessons and receive a credit in the US dollar amount of your original purchase.

Credit can be used for lift tickets, lessons, and rentals.  Credit will be provided electronically, as made available in an online account.

Credit amounts will be based on the ticket purchaser’s actual purchase price, less insurance, if applicable. If you use your credit on a ticket that is more expensive, you must pay the price difference between the credit and the new ticket. Credit can NOT be used for lodging, food, beverage or resort merchandise. Credit expires April 30th, 2023.
