Today’s
Report
The second day of March rings in a bit of the same again, a slightly cloudy morning will give way to more sunny skies in the afternoon. Temperatures at the mountain will climb into the mid 40 degrees with winds getting stronger in the afternoon generally out of the South West. You can expect the snow to be soft, but likely not as soft as yesterday as slightly cooler temps and wind keep the slopes chilled. Early this morning you can expect the snow to be colder and harder, as the day goes on the groomers will soften up in the sun.
Looking ahead at the ten day forecast, weather models are projecting between 2-11 inches later this week and we all hope it delivers a performance like the last storm.. For now we’re loving the spring like conditions, sipping brews at Last Chair Grill, and slathering on sunscreen to protect our faces.
While the peak and side country look temping, friendly reminder that the avalanche danger will be very high this week because of the massive storm slab that is sitting on a variable snow pack. Best to stay off of high angle terrain and ski with a partner and a plan. Or better yet stay in bounds. If you have questions about out of bounds access gates and avalanche conditions and hazards, pop in to talk with Ski Patrol at the top of Giant Steps Express or Roulette lifts for additional information.
All lifts are open, providing access to 100% of our terrain. Both the Kodachrome Terrain Park at Navajo Mountain and the Giant Steps Terrain Park are closed today due to heavy snowfall and will be open as soon as possible.
